This is a cast iron pump, it has some weight to it. Installation is a breeze. This is not the cheapest pump out there, but I wanted to protect my home and was not looking to save a few dollars and risk my home. This is a replacement pump for an existing cast iron one. This pump is extremely quiet, I used to hear the old pump when it was pumping, that was actually comforting to hear and know it was doing its job. I will add an audible alarm to this set up for the additional piece of mind. A few dollars now will help save thousands in the future. Extremely pleased with this purchase.
